Barack Obamas Campaign Plane

American pride has created war after war, made countries despise us and make us seem like elitists.  If united we stand and divided we fall, then why do we need limited boundries?  Why can't we be united in love, harmony, peace and forgiveness?    If globalization is inevitable, which it seems to be, then our perception cannot be “us and them” and our connections should happen with diplomacy and a quest for oneness.  I have immense gratitude for this country and what its founders envisioned.  In many ways it has lived up to that vision and unfortunately in many ways it hasn't.  If countries had egos, then ours would have the biggest.  Yes the flag is a symbol, but many symbols have become distorted.  The star of David is a sacred Jewish Symbol, I believe in its power.  Yet in urban america it is used as a gang symbol.  Thus I have to go beyond the symbol, to the heart of what it represents.  How has the flag, as a symbol been distorted?  What atrocities have taken place to make it less honorable?  More then an American, I am a human, seeking unity and peaceful connections, if it helps, I will seek this connection through the joy of being born in a free country, but my Ancestors weren't so lucky, they were born in war, wars which even our precious country were powerless to stop, or didn't take the time to try. They were fortunate to fall into sweet America's loving arms.   Even here, they consider themselves proud Americans, but I just see them as members of my family.  Just as I see my friends from other countries as family also.  

99% of the time I do not get involved in politics, I feel it is a force which depletes my energy.  I do feel, however, that Obama has integrity and  a progressive vision aligned with our times.  I will not let a symbol get in the way of my perception, for this presidency should not be based in fear, but acceptance.  Perhaps he wanted to get beyond the symbol, so we could see the greater picture.  It is afterall a plane, he is not the president yet and he was just decorating.  Do we expect our leaders to paint flags on their cars?  Do we expect leaders to paint flags on goodyear blimps when advertising their campaigns?  There is a difference between the old school and the new school and the boundries are fading as we develop relationships with other countries, relationships we need to ensure peace and harmony.  I am tired of going backwards and would simply like to have an intelligent president who starts conversations among Americans, rather then deceiving through silence + bait and switches.  For the last 8 years, we have been regressing, going backwards into fear, division, aggression, duality.  I don't think this country can afford any more of that.  We need progress, this country needs to evolve with a heart, especially in such cold times.
